It's a special mid-week Colleague Credit recognition for two of our team's key players! It's Administrative Professionals' Day, and we couldn't be more grateful for our "Barbs"! They go above and beyond for every student, offer constant support to teachers, and take the best care of their principals.

THE BIG WINNER
Congratulations to Layla Litteral! Layla was the big winner during our recent book fair. She guessed the correct number of "bookworms" in the jar and was treated to some sweet prizes!

HOMEMADE SALAD BAR
Our agriculture students have been working hard to harvest lettuce in the lab. What's more? They've even enjoyed some delicious salads from their bountiful supply.

A BERRY GOOD DAY
Students in our Hospitality and Tourism class recently returned to the extension office for another Teen Cuisine lesson with Mrs. Lora.
They worked on cutting skills, preparing a Very Berry salsa. Students learned about knife safety and positioning and different types of cuts before practicing with blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and apples.
They enjoyed eating their finished product with cinnamon crisps in the new farmer's market pavilion.

SCHEDULE FOR VIRTUAL STUDENTS
Please note days that virtual students are required to report to Wurtland Middle School for the administration of Kentucky State Assessments. All virtual students should plan to report to Wurtland Middle School between 7:45 a.m. and 7:50 a.m. on each required day of testing.

GREENUP COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL SBDM NOMINATIONS
It is time to nominate one parent to serve on the Site-Based Decision Making Council for Greenup County High School for the 2025 - 2026 school year. The council is made up of the principal, three teachers, and two parents. To be considered for a nomination, you must have a student enrolled at Greenup County High School for the 2025 - 2026 school year.
Requirements of SBDM Member:
* Mandatory monthly meeting
* Special meetings called on occasion
* Meetings cover policies, procedures, etc.
* Required three-hour training in July
* Two-year terms
Each nominee will be notified to either accept or reject the nomination.
To nominate yourself or someone you know, please click the link below or call the Youth Service Center at 606.473.5488. The nomination period will be until April 25. Voting will take place the following week, April 28 - May 2. Votes can be cast online via Google Form or in-person at the front office between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. We are electing one parent to fill the open spot.

MEN OF TOMORROW
Our Men of Tomorrow continue to seek new opportunities! After visiting the high school recently, our Men of Tomorrow made a second trip. In addition to a more thorough review of available career pathways offered through our technical center, students also participated in career coaching and future planning.
We are so proud of these young men!
THIS IS GRATE!
Last week, students in our Hospitality and Tourism class practiced using both peelers and graters to make some delicious cole slaw. What's more? Our backyard chickens were happy to eat the scraps and peels.
Great work, students! Is it just us, or are these students beginning to look like professionals?!
UP AND MOVING
Seventh-grade students have been using literacy centers to review text structures in preparation for an upcoming test. Students enjoyed new levels of engagement with SMART Board games, a round of UNO, interactive bulletin boards, pocket charts, and more.
We love to see our students engaged in learning at Wurtland Middle School!
BEYOND THE PYRAMIDS
Recently, Mr. Yancey's students designed models of tombs, representative of pharaohs, at the conclusion of their study focused on ancient Egypt. Students filled their tombs with items that may be needed for the afterlife.
