Mr. Scott Bowling shares that Mr. Yancey helped him to prepare for a substitute when he was unable to make it to school. He helped to make sure the person covering Mr. Bowling's classes had everything that was needed.

Saule Gollihue shares that Cris always lifts everyone’s spirits by just walking through the hallways! From walking past classmates to teachers, everyone is always so happy to be greeted by Cris's smiles, waves, and, sometimes, special hugs!

Industrial Arts and Cats' Creations students have a few remaining Christmas trees for sale. Small trees are $20.00; medium trees are $30.00; and large trees are $40.00. You may also purchase all three remaining trees for $75.00.

EdRISING VISITS STORY HOUR
EdRising students visited the Flatwoods Library Story Hour yesterday! Students had a great day that featured Christmas stories, a library scavenger hunt, and helping younger children make crafts.
What a fun adventure!




THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER
Before break, many students had been working hard and studying "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever". Upon the completion of the reading, students were able to go see the movie. They were even treated to a trip to Mr. Gatti's! WHAT. A. GREAT. DAY.

EVOLUTION SELECTION MODEL LAB
Students in Mrs. Dornon's science classes recently participated in an evolution selection model laboratory activity. Students used tweezers, along with various other tools, to mimic bird beaks. Different types of candies served as foods for which birds might forage. Students both enjoyed this activity and participated in an amazing learning experience!

CREATIVE WRITING TAKES ON POETRY
Students in Mrs. Brumfield's Creative Writing class have exercised their creativity in the poetry genre. They studied and composed poems in five different forms including reversal, blackout, dice, acrostic, and "Where I'm From" poetry. Wow!

A GENEROUS CHRISTMAS DONATION
We would like to thank our friends of the Riverview Homemakers Club who stopped by today with a very generous donation! These funds will benefit our students throughout the holiday season!

LEARNING SOME NEW HABIT(ats)
Mrs. Rebecca Spencer recently spent the week with Mr. Bowling's Industrial Arts students. Students spent time learning about Habitat for Humanity, crafted Habitat-inspired ornaments, and were visited by the organization's CEO, David Michael. The fourth annual wall build will be here in just a few short months, and we are excited!









COLLEAGUE CREDIT
Ms. Jujuana Hieneman shares that, with the recent storms, the school's flagpole and flag were damaged. Mrs. Barb Tussey worked diligently to get a new flag and the parts to repair the pole purchased. She coordinated purchasing the correct parts, the repairs, and the delivery of the specialized equipment needed to complete the work. Barb persisted to make this happen before Veterans Day! When driving by Wurtland Middle School, make sure to look at how nice the new flag looks as it proudly displays the red, white, and blue.

WRITER OF THE WEEK
Mrs. Bobbi Brumfield shares that Rachael always brings a smiling face and positive attitude to Creative Writing class. She works diligently on her assignments and has grown quite a bit as a writer.

A BOUNTIFUL HARVEST
Wurtland Elementary School students recently visited Wurtland Middle School's agriculture classes. Together, the students harvested lettuce and basil in bountiful supplies. The lettuce was donated to Greenup County Meals on Wheels and was used for a recent delivery of taco salads.
Our Wildcats are working hard each day to make impacts in the community!

Amelia shares that she is THANKFUL for Mrs. Carla Moore. Amelia notes that she always makes sure that the school is clean, and she always greets her with a smile each morning. Amelia adds that she knows she can go to Mrs. Carla if she ever has a problem. We are so grateful that Amelia knows she can rely on Mrs. Carla! She is a superhero in our eyes, and we are so grateful for her, too!

We would like to thank everyone who contributed to our annual Thanksgiving food drive. This is only a snapshot of the donated items, and we are so appreciative of the generosity of our students and community members. These donations will serve many families.
