Behind the scenes of a “snow day”! GC’s mechanics work hard all year round to keep our large fleet running, and that includes snow days! On days like today, they hurry to make repairs while the buses are parked. The torch comes in handy to convince frozen parts to cooperate!
These gentlemen do daily checks on the batteries, belts, hoses, fluid levels, tire pressure, and more. That doesn’t include the rotating schedule for changing oil, fluids, parts, and making repairs. They also fix rust, pull dents, and even do our own body repair when possible.
Now for the fun part! They do all this for [drumroll please]…
🚌54 buses
🚐6 SUVs for student transport
🚛10 maintenance vehicles
🚜3 tractors
🚚1 dump truck
⚙️1 forklift
🚜5 industrial lawn mowers
Thank you to our garage staff and the countless others working selflessly behind the scenes!

The transportation team and maintenance crew have already been out on the road checking bus routes and roads that our many students take to get to school. Based on the temperatures today this will not improve. Greenup Schools will be on NTI Day 3 tomorrow 1/22/24. #BelieveInGC
Musketeers, we expect another storm tonight compounding the weather and travel issues. Tomorrow will be a Snow Day, no school. We will make this day up later in the year. Stay warm! #BelieveInGC
Due to the weather conditions, GC will have NTI Day #2 on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024. A big thank you to Henry Patrick and Mike Bellew, who have worked tirelessly with their road crews in this harsh cold. We appreciate you and know that you are trying! #BelieveInGC

This is awesome!! Mrs. Parker, the HS librarian, is framing old check out cards as artwork in the library!
They go back through the 1960’s, 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s!
Some of your names are on here — let us know who you recognize!! You are now part of GC artwork and history! #BelieveInGC

It’s exciting to see students practicing skills that they will be using in the future, and their futures are looking bright!! Mrs. Wellman’s business students are seen here fine tuning their resumes.
Perhaps the most impressive part was all the volunteer experience that so many of them had listed! Our students are amazing!

This is AJ, and today we suprised him with a visit to brag on him and give him a “RACK” bracelet (Random Act of Cody Kindness)! Someone wrote us about seeing AJ perform a wonderful act of kindness.
While other kids at Wednesday night church were playing, AJ was helping an elderly woman. He held her hand, patiently and gently helping her to her car. We are so proud of AJ’s character!
We love to share all the positive about our students, so please let us know about a GC student who you’ve seen domonstrating kindness.
Thanks again to GC’s Officer Gollihue for allowing us to join in on Random Acts of Cody Kindness!

The GC Board of Education approved the official calendar for the 2024-2025 school year. We hope having this calendar in advance will be beneficial to Musketeer families making plans for trips or vacations.

Congratulations to Peyton Powell for being named “All-Area” in volleyball! When we caught up with this young lady to take a congratulatory photo, we saw her sitting there with an A+ anatomy test that she’d just been handed back! Way to go, Musketeer!

It’s hard to believe, but our cooks serve 3,000 meals per day here at GC!! Serving 7 schools throughout the district, our hardworking food service staff keep our students fed every single day. Talk about hard work!
Please help us thank our cooks!! We’ll be highlighting more kitchens as we go to let you know the amazing feats accomplished each day here at GC! #BelieveInGC
Driver shortages may cause delays to the routes listed. Information was given to schools to communicate to students prior to loading buses.
Likely 15-20 minute delays for: 2202, 2201, 1001, 628, 1501, 702
Possible 45 minute delay for: 603
Please help us spread the word in gaining drivers, as our pay is the highest in the area. Driver shortages create significant strain on our transportation department that is out of their control.
We sincerely appreciate your understanding.
Please contact (606) 473-7514 for any questions.
Thank you to the Blue Knights WVIII law enforcement motorcycle club!! They stopped by today to make a donation to Wurtland Middle School’s FRYSC (Family Resource Youth Service Center)!
This will help Greenup County children, and we appreciate it very much! #BelieveInGC
